Forensic Structural Investigations

Unfortunately, structures might be subjected to the forces of explosion, hurricanes, tornadoes, or other significant forces. Also, members may be removed or loads added in some instances. When this happens a structural engineer is needed to evaluate the structure after such an attack, accident, or significant event occurs.

Explosions may occur from Unconfined Vapor Clouds, confined gases, chemicals, or explosive agents, etc. When this happens, the structure is subjected to vertical, lateral, and rebound pressures that can be significant. Recognizing the signs of distress, failure, or compromise of the structural requires the services of a structural engineer.

Likewise, earthquake, high winds, or flood can compromise a structure's integrity.

All of these incidents need the services of a structural engineer to determine whether the structure still has the ability to meet code and to be safe. The services of a safety professional are also required to assess damage and ensure that safety concerns are being made.
