Project
Management
Project Management has many faces, but is generally thought of as
"controlling a project." Control of the design, the planning, the
schedule, the workforce, and the budget are functions of Project
Management. These functions use several well established methods
and software in an effort to be successful.
A project has a start date and an end date between which are several
or even hundreds of tasks. Project Management uses certain well
established tools to track these tasks, keep them within the schedule,
and ensure that the budget is being spent at an appropriate rate.

Successful
Project Management requires considerable knowledge, training, and experience.
Although Project Management can be taught, it requires many years to understand
and successfully control the great number of tasks, financial considerations,
administrative concerns, workforce needs, material requirements, and the
myriad nuances of managing the design, procurement, and construction phases
of a project.
